- MSCPA Workshop for Parents –
 Looking for Tips to Help Your Struggling Child? Attend the Parenting for Success Workshop
Speaker: Dr. Michael Bloomquist
Parents/caregivers of children (ages 5-17) with attention and behavior problems will benefit from this two-hour workshop. The primary goal of the workshop is to help parents/caregivers in efforts to get their struggling child back on track and lessen family stress. This workshop provides parenting tips and strategies to promote the child’s success in self-control, social, emotional, and academic development. The tips and skills training strategies presented are designed to enhance a child’s psychological development and improve family relationships. Research shows that these tips and strategies do help children and families if properly implemented.
Topics covered include (geared towards parents of children ages 5-17):
• Information about attention and behavior struggles in children
• Thinking of a child’s struggles in developmental terms
• Tips to enhance a child’s self-control, social, emotional, and academic development
• Tips to improve a parent’s well-being and broader family interactions
• Ideas to help parents follow through and maintain improvements
Parents/caregivers will leave the workshop with several concrete strategies that they can put to immediate use to help their child and family.
About The Speaker: Michael Bloomquist, PhD is an Associate Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Minnesota. He has over 20 years of experience providing child and family intervention, training psychologists, and conducting research. In addition, he is the author of numerous journal articles and several books about youth with behavior problems and evidence-based intervention and prevention.
